If you go to the Winter Campaign 2011 blog you'll see that I've attached some concept hex maps. I can pretty much map any color combination, transparency settings, labels and fonts, and scale that you can imagine. Let me know what you think. sites.google.com/site/bedeckedwithpistols/winter-campaign-2011/conceptmapI like bwp7 the best. And based on these maps I've decided that I think we should have 5 tiles per player so if Dave and Eli play we'll just expand the map.

Maybe Im over looking, but is that background actually a tissue sample of some sort? I would choose the first one. Number seven you are correct, is way more alien, but due to the large amount of black area, I think I would be worried about being swallowed up by the dark water...
Also I am surprised people would space out there tiles so much.... jk I know its just for an example... Honestly, it looks outstanding! I would dare say too perfect(like gw made it or something) and/or professional.... As if whoever created it had some kind of position currently or in the past designing these things...
With that being said, as I really do feel like this would be an out of box map from a game you would buy at the store... If in the future talk continues of certain tiles exhibiting a type of terrain which would effect the terrain pieces able to be used, would it be possible to change the shading from solid colors to textures to denote a certain terrain? Obviously it doesn't matter for this campaign... but right now we are in the speculation and planning phase... so I feel obligated to ask...

For the name of the campaign, I find that GW usually makes up an arbitrary sytem name, precedes it with Crusade for, Battle for/of, or Assault on/of, then follows it by a roman numeral specific to a planet in the system. Since this is the first campaign with the official group name, group webpage, etc... My vote for a campaign name is: Battle for Pistolero VII As for the number of starter territories I think 5 seems reasonable, as well as manageable. Lastly, if a system for number of attacks has not been established, Let me offer up this sweet diddy... How about the number of possible challenges able to be made by any player is equal to the number of territories/tiles controlled by a player divided by 2 then rounded down... so everyone starts with 2... those persons who are taking additional territories/tiles will have extra attacks, those with less tiles less attacks which to me seems intuitive... I feel a 1 :1 attacks per tile ratio is too many and rarely would you see an army expanding so rapidly in real life so it doesn't seem right. Sil Odan: thanks for noticing me... I will put the dubbing on the trophy mantle with my medal from the tournament... Servo: It took you that long to go cross eyed... The doctor Im working with said it be much faster! @ghostwheel: Do you remember that time we zip lined from the Geneva windmill to the baby graveyard, after taunting bears with raw meat, and then fought of the army of tiny zombies? Why were we wearing rollerblades?(seemed smart at the time) I kept getting dead baby grey matter in my wheels and then you did that spinning handstand flip manuever(you know the one) Ive never been splashed with soo much baby zombie goo... ruined my only white shirt too!(explains a lot) Good times:) Mephiston: Do you remember that time we drove from San Diego to Colorado together in a strangers Honda Element, then flew to Chicago to play a warhammer tournament with some awesome friends? Good Times:) captainpeeps: You know I have yet to try a captain peeps... Though I do remenber your instructions on making them all the way back from your first apartment in DeKalb, before the house in Dekalb. @the Slackers: One of you is planning a vacation, you are exempt from the following... Seriously?

I just thought of something. We've been so busy concentrating on rules for the campaign, we never talked about the models we are using. Are we doing WYSIWYG? Proxies? Must all models be painted? Personally, I think the we we did it for Cake or Death was perfect, so I'm fine keeping it the same way.

Perfect? The rule was apparently "anything goes". There were models on the table that were missing arms and heads. Although, I was happy there were no Coke cans counting as Dreadnoughts.
It is something we should probably vote for every Tournament and Campaign. I will vote for the way most Tournaments handle it: fully assembled; fully painted with at least 4 colors; and based. That is my goal for us, because it just looks so much better on the table, and painting, modeling, and building terrain are part of the hobby.
I am not saying this to force anybody to do anything, that is why we should vote. But I will vote for it everytime until it happens. It is a not unrealistic, and it provides a goal for everyone.
Also, I like the idea of allowing 1 "exception unit" for everyone. Maybe a proxy for a unit not released or bought yet, or an unpainted unit, or something like that.

I do like the idea of fully glued models. As for proxies, my Baal Predator is without flamestorm but I like to be able to declare it when I want to make smorkes. That's a roasted ork with chocolate between two graham crackers.

"S'morkes" sound disgusting! I always thought Orks were more of a savory than sweet flavor; maybe a nice Soy Sauce marinade? If you would like to make a Flamestorm cheap, I suggest getting the bits and magnetizing the Flamestorm and Assault Cannon. Here is the website I usually use for bits: bitzbarn.com/oscommerce/catalog/index.php?cPath=22_381_482The Cannon and Ammo together are only $5. If you are interested, we can place an order together and split the delivery charge.

I say who cares how it looks....I'd proxy another army with monopoly pieces if I could. As long as I can keep track what is where I'd play against someone only using bases as models if that means we'd have an enjoyable time =D

MMMmmm smorkes...just had some tonight.... Its that combination of seat, tears(other peoples obviousy), and fungus plus that delicious chocolate and grahm cracker that really lets you know your having a quality smorke... and its true, flamestorm is the only way to go if you want to make the right... a little tip, a dash of cumin on that ork meat and perfection...
I like proxies... to a degree... Like a dreadnought being proxied for a venerable dreadnought... Maybe not a coke can for the same proxy attempt... I thought three colors was the tournament standard...Since I own atleast one of each for most lists I would play, I dont really care... but as long as things are clearly marked I dont see a problem... The problem may lye in the commitment of a certain player to their army... but thats for them to hash out with the troops... Magnetizing(as I showed Matt) is awesome, doesnt require that much money, and goes the distance for cash while opening up many options... Hell Ive gone as far as magnetizing tyranid warrior heads, just so I can swap them later, plus I feel like GW would hate it... Its harder for orks in general, devastators, and eldar(because they are soooo small). But marines are easy, terminators a cinch... This way you are always wysiwyg... especially for vehicles with different weapon upgrades...
The point is fun, not cash, unless there is a pool I dont know about...So lets play that way... proxies ok as long as its within reason.... Especially models that only come metal likr the ork big mek... Most of the time I like him to also have a powerklaw... but he is not modeled with it and a kustom forcefield.... and since its metal its a hard conversion...
also I ebay almost all my bitz cheaper than bitzbarn... If you try hard enough you can win bits for some amazing prices...

Ok, I regret using the word "perfect". What I meant was it worked well without anyone doing the aforementioned coke can proxy. And now that Matt has mentioned "smorkes", I now know why I'm missing a few models since Cake or Death.
Tim is correct, the tournament rule is a minimum of four colors per model. If we go this route, I have a lot of painting to do. I'm not worried about proxies; I think everything I use is modeled how I arm them. I think.

Ok, we will have a lot of voting to do if we want this done and planned in 10 days.
We need a name, still. I saw Tom's ideas. Here are some more:
- Roll the Worm Campaign - Roll the Beast Campaign - Popcorn Schnapps Campaign - Gimp Ninja's Holy Donuts Winter Campaign (from Ellis; I might consider if we drop the "Holy Donuts", I hate that line in the movie.)

Sorry, i thought that was to be 1 of the items voted on.
I like #7.
Is there a way to show who owns which territory and who is attacking which territory? I like the colored borders you have for ownership, but what about for attacks?
