I was experimenting with the Ork painter on Bolter and Chainsword to come up with my paint scheme for Orks, and I need opinions, please. My idea is to have a "neutral" Ork tribe that is not dedicated to any one clan but has elements of all clans. For example, Lootas will be painted as Death Skulls, and Kommandos as Blood Axes, but the standard Boys will be neither. So I need a color scheme that does not denote any one clan for the standard Boys, which means I have to avoid red, black, blue, and yellow. Below are 2 options I have so far. This one has Kommando Khaki shirt and Codex Grey pants: ![](http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Z6_Aqo6dCIo/T7Erxljuf8I/AAAAAAAAAus/jpKK1h9qrR4/s500/Ork%252C%2520Khaki%2520-%2520Grey.jpg) This one is the same colors reversed: ![](http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-TanUN9oKM48/T7ErxhCSr_I/AAAAAAAAAuw/zm2_5xE59Yw/s500/Ork%252C%2520Grey%2520-%2520Khaki.jpg) I may want a darker grey. Opinions? Different color suggestions? If anyone is interested, B&C has painter programs for SM, Tau, and others: www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?s=6e9581aa28b00c3a004542518156f98e&autocom=pages. And someone was nice enough to translate all the "old" Citadel colors into hex-codes here: www.bolterandchainsword.com/Tyler/GWColors.pdf

Khaki and Grey? I hate to be the jerk here, but couldn't those be interpreted as Blood Axe colors? ;D
I think you would be fine with those. If you want, you can alternate the combo to differentiate squads. One has khaki tops, grey bottoms. The next has khaki bottoms, grey tops. Maybe one squad with all khaki, and another all grey.

Khaki and Grey? I hate to be the jerk here, but couldn't those be interpreted as Blood Axe colors? I always thought of Blood Axes as camoflage-pattern. I also tried brown and khaki, but that looked like Snakebites to me. What else would look "neutral" (if that word can even be applied to Orks).

You are right that Blood Axes would include a (sometimes bizzare) camo pattern; I simply meant if grey and khaki could be applied to any one clan, it would be them. Brown and khaki certainly make me think of Snakebites, so I think the grey and khaki idea works best. Unless you decide to paint them orange. Or purple. Or pink. Or peach. Or teal. Or any other number of ridiculos colors that might not look right. Actually, I'm kind of thinking about orange, now. Hmmm...Aha! I can make a mob of ODOK boyz (Orky Department of Korrections). Orange jumpsuits and little broken shackles around wrist and ankle. Hee hee hee hee! Oooooo, maybe that can be a Flash Gitz Freebooters mob...

I'm a generous man. I'll let you borrow it, if you like.

>i like 'em both, Servo. and as for the orange jumpsuit idea, it's been used. in a WD article, a Deathskullz warband slaughtered an Imperial Penal Regiment, and three generations later, da boyz are still fighting in orange jumpsuits with numbers and arrows on them.<
