In order to finish some of my existing vehicles plus plans for my new IG, I would like to employ the use of stencils... For example:(oops this one takes a while to load...) ![](http://coolminiornot.com/pics/pics15/img4e537a18c85d9.jpg) I think the stenciled wings look really cool. There are many other examples, this was the first one I could find in 10 seconds. Does anyone have any experience using a stencil to paint? What material works best? Would I need an airbrush or could a regular brush get the job done? I also wanted to paint yellow and black stripes(like a caution sign) on some of my vehicles and assume a stencil would be the best way to do this. Does anyone have any suggestions of a more effective way to do this? Possibly a large decal? With the talk of new paints in the rumor area and the call to brush away the cobwebs, I felt I should ask the group before I go into a lengthy research period. Thanks in advance.

>i cut my stencils out of cardstock, but if you put down blue painter's tape and trim out your design, that works too. they have stencil painting brushes at WalMart in the craft section, but as long as you don't mind a lil bit of touchup, any brush will do. you'll pretty much have to do a lil touchup no matter what technique you use, to be honest. paint can be drawn to places you don't necessarily want it via capillary action.<

I created stencils with index cards and an Exacto blade. Requires touch-up afterward.
