Red Templars vs Orks
Spearhead
Capture and control
It had started as an anomaly… a few large chunks of space rocks/debri gently floated from an asteroid belt towards Elikai VIII . The imperium watched to see if they would drift away from the planet but soon, it became clear they had been pulled into the planets gravity.
The planet was all but abandoned. Native species were thriving, the fertile soil was perfect for colonization from terra and construction had just begun on what was to be its first human city. The hostile creatures had been hunted to levels of near extinction and the architecture as planned exalted the greatness of the Emperor… These asteroids were of such size it threatened to send the planet into an Ice age, which would have seriously threatened the project.
It was when the giant rocks slowed down just outside the atmosphere that the ground troops were mobilized… “ORKS!” was the battle cry ushering all hands to battle stations. Using some kind of gravitational beam(s) theses hulking rocks slowly descended to the surface of the planet… and then “all hell broke loose”…
Boyz poured from the rocks swarming the stationed Imperial guard in an enormous green tide taking many casualties from battle cannons and assorted weaponry… but eventually the Orks power klaws burst through the heavy armor to reveal their defenseless cargo who were quickly dispatched…
The rest of the information comes from a lone guardsmen who had cleverly gotten "stuck" in an air vent trying to hide from the invaders (He was only able to work himself free buy using his own blood as lubricant. Reportedly one boy walked room to room in the command structure randomly stabbing walls, machinery, and supplies for fun. The Emperor has a plan for us all, for this gentleman, it was getting stabbed while being stuck in an air vent.):
The leader who proudly boasted his name Wazzdakka, ordered all of the construction machinery be taken to some kind of yard where it was all cut apart and reassembled into walkers and flying machines.
“So far only one built, but they are tearing everything apart for materials…” was the last communication, the guardsmen is assumed dead.
This is all of the information contained on the data given to me… We were the closest, by many parsecs, but we were not prepared, having just cleansed Iridium VI of the daemon host Meh’Klendum… The High Marshall demanded we secure/or destroy the data from two terminals in the construction site… It would give any warlord the power to overcome many cities defenses and the warlord,”WazzDakka,” is already gaining notoriety as some kind of prophet amongst the ork tribes…
We set a course to intercept…
I had a venerable dread prepped to drop in where needed… The game was afoot…
Their forces were beyond anything we were prepared to handle, This WazzDakka was a creative character…. 6 Kans, a Deff dread, 3 deff koptas, and hordes of boys all waiting for a chance to kill and take trophies…
Turn 1

![](http://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-v75YkRV7Tag/TqFVa1PAteI/AAAAAAAAAQs/_uvkEKkzE3M/s640/P19532320.jpg)
They were all gathered around one of the data banks… Engaged in some kind of tribal ceremony… I could only reason its glowing interface enticed their excitement…
The sound of the Thunderhawk must have aroused their attention (poor savages probably thought they summoned it for fun, a gift from Mork so to speak)… We moved towards them, in an effort to close the distance fast and surprise them....
Our strategy had not bought us much time… and they were on the march and their Big Mech had found the supplies to build a kustom force field!…

We landed close to the second terminal, started the download, and advanced towards the oncoming horde.
Turn 2
The typhoons circled around to target the deff koptas, but couldn’t get a bead on their erratic movements, the exact report from one of the typoon pilots was,”Are these guys having fun or just showing off to their friends?”
![](http://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-fzAgmlRjI6Q/TqFVCFpzXGI/AAAAAAAAAQE/aEKXYQwrbeE/s640/P19530315.jpg)
We continued towards them… but soon realized it may not have been in our best interests as a wall of walking death machines cloaked in a force field appeared in front of us.(Sadly I had only brought the Emperors Champion and not the Emperors Gimp Ninja on this mission)
Turn 3
The Typhoons were able to take out two deff koptas but do to their dynamic piloting were unable to take the third…
Squad three held back covering the controlled terminal from any units which might try to infiltrate our back lines.
The wall of metal and smoke moved forth… we moved back trying to gain a strategic advantage…(I am sure Wazzdakka viewed it as a retreat)
![](http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iGZ2DTsdSK8/TqFVH2Cea7I/AAAAAAAAAQM/IZiNq_j4ZXQ/s640/P19530816.jpg)
To save us, the Venerable dread “Picardos” fell from the sky into the predetermined destination we were to have controlled. The deathwind reached out and killed only a few boyz as Picardos opened up his heavy flamer killing a couple more…
The boys closest to the far terminal, realizing the threat backed up and made room for their Deff Dread to charge Picardos.

Turn 4
Seeing the lack of armor busting capabilities in the boys squad, Picardos made his error, by charging the unit of boyz. The deff dread was soon on him hacking at his armor.
The typhoons finally shot down the last deff kopta.
The virtual wall of kans continued to advance… firing a barrage of rockets at our Rhinos. By the Emperors grace, none of the shots were able to immobilize, stun, or destroy the rhinos. The rhinos retreated further, forming a wall which blocked access to the terminal we were deleting the files from.
![](http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-d0rIR7xT500/TqFU9nXKCFI/AAAAAAAAAP8/z3kHIzudcKQ/s640/P19530014.jpg)
The deff dread ripped into Picardos and destroyed the venerable dread… His sacrafice will be remembered.
Turn 5
The robotic, force field protected wall continued to move at us, immobilizing one of the rhinos.
![](http://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-oylTBl_aQfI/TqFUoz7UWFI/AAAAAAAAAPU/EQVsqkyjEsY/s640/P19528009.jpg)
I had to buy us more time, the files were almost all downloaded… but we needed more time… With storm shield in hand I singly exited My rhino and with the emperors champion at my side was prepared to make my stand… but I had no melta bombs… why was I so unprepared!
The Kans moved towards my position… I could smell the hate pouring from the kans as they crept closer…
The news came across our communicators, the data had been secured… Thank the Emperor. I ordered us all to be teleported out.
The site was bombed from orbit… But I don’t think this is the last we will hear from Wazzdakka. In fact, I believe it is just a harbinger of things to come.
