As I have started magnetizing everything, does anone want me to put together a magnet tutorial?
Once you start its easier than gluing and you can re-adjust poses and such on the fly so it is more fun in my opinion.
I know there are many tutorials already out there, but maybe I can answer some questions stopping you guys from "magnet suiting up" as barney would say.
It hardly takes any additional time and the money saved is amazing.
Let me know if there are any specific questions you guys have and hopefully I can answer them.
I have gotten so ridiculous with magnets you will notice in my tyranid army I have even begun magnetizing heads where there is a possibility of different options.
It is particularly beneficial to space marine units where different special weapons/wargear can be chosen. For example, one of my magnetized marines can be an assault marine, a tactical marine, or an apothecary. Obviously magnetising an entire army is silly as a player will need core troops(ie tactical marines with bolters), and it is not a benefit. However, being able to switch between a flamer, a plasma pistol, a plasma gun, etc is really saving cash and time.
In addition this gives more credence to wysiwyg as the addition of a few magnets can turn a slugga boyz squad into a shoota boyzs squad. Nobz and some other units can be an issue and it is something we can learn together how to maximize potential.
The best example of howmagnets have saved me is with terminators. I have taken four squads of black reach terminators and magnetized them into a full assault deathwing. Yess storm bolters are all fine and good, at 10.00 a model(for the box set) I would rather magnetize lightning claw arms(bought on ebay for 10.00) and make a whole squad of assault terminators. I did buy one box to compare, but seriously, no one would be able to tell, save for the modelers themselves. That and I wanted some thunder hammers and storm shields.
If anyone is interested let me know, Ill put something together.
