Yep. A new version. Possibly this year. GW has never released a new version this fast (2 years). Rumors are that after the bad sales numbers this last quarter, GW needs a guaranteed big seller. When a new version comes out, the starter set always sells like crazy. Hey GW: OF COURSE the starter sets sell, it is a way to get a bunch of models on the cheap. Maybe you just need to lower the prices on your standard kits, and THEY would sell. Idiots. Not sure on rules or even format. Some are saying this will actually be version 6.5, and just an update. Still, the rulebook is $70+, so if I had bought this last version, I would be pissed. Rumored armies: Blood Angels vs. Orks. Want some cheap models, Mephiston and Sil Odan?

Just another show of GW's poor decision making skills. Another version so soon? That's ridiculous. I agree, anyone who shelled out the obscene cost for the last rulebook should clamor for blood.

Release is confirmed for May 24, 2014, via a teaser video from GW: Rumored Starter Kit Contents (various sources)- 5 Blood Angel Scouts
- 5 Blood Angel Marines
- 1 Blood Angel Commander with Jump Pack
- 5 Ork Meganobs
- 10 Ork 'Ard Boyz with Shootas including a Nob with two-handed axe
- 10 Gretchin
- Destroyed Columns
- Destroyed Stone Walls
- Destroyed Bridge, in 3 pieces
- 96-page Mini-Rulebook
- Dice and Rulers
We also have some confirmations of how v.7 will work, via pics of the new White Dwarf floating around: ![](http://i.imgur.com/mRU59uo.jpg) ![](http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc112/Rick_1138/10269362_453231711446950_6273004553695180882_n.jpg) Here is a short breakdown of what is confirmed for v.7 from the above article: - Unbound Armies vs. Battle-Forged Armies: If you take an Unbound Army, you can take ANYTHING in your collection and ignore the Force Organization Chart. If you take a Battle-Forged Army, you get some kind of in-game bonuses (not mentioned).
- Maelstrom of War Missions: 6 new missions called "Maelstrom of War" (v.6 missions are called "Eternal War" missions, and will still exist in v.7). Missions use 36 Objective Cards, which are drawn during game; when you complete an objective, you can draw a new objective.
- Psychic Phase: This will be handled more like current Fantasy Magic Phase as opposed to WH40K v.2. This means each phase you generate a number of dice based on the number and Mastery level of your Psykers. These dice are used to generate powers and "dispel" your opponent's powers.
- Daemonolgy Psychic Discipline: 2 types of powers called "Sanctic" and "Malefic". Powers are available to everyone except Tyranids.
Excited about actual scenery in the starter box. Anyone want to split a box? Unbound Armies? Damn you GW... damn you straight to Hell. Love the idea of Objective Cards. It will feel like Risk 2120! I think the Psychic Phase will be interesting. Currently, powers are just weapons you have to roll too many times for or squad-buffs that cannot be stopped. With a Psychic Phase we can try to dispel Blessing powers, and the destruction should be fun. Kinda screws over Sisters, Tau, Necrons, and Dark Eldar. Not too happy about Daemonology. Do you have to buy the powers before hand, or are they always an option if desperate enough? The example in the article is Ezekiel from the Dark Angels is down to 1 Wound and desperate to stop the Tyranids, so he summons a Bloodthirster. Sooooo... now we are all expected to buy Bloodthirster models? Well-played GW.

Preorders are up: Games WorkshopLooks like the Main Rulebook "set" is $85. It is broken into 3 separate hardcover books: 1 for the rules, 1 for background, and 1 for pretty pictures and how-to guides. I like this idea, reminds me of 2nd Edition. No further word on Starter Set with models and templates yet.

Some "confirmed" items from 3++ is the New Black: This should help the vehicles that are blowing up too easy! Allies Matrix: ![](http://www.3plusplus.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/allies-table-7th.jpeg) Still not a fan of Allies, but at least this chart makes FAR more sense. Big improvement.

Hmmm... Well thats interesting! Thanks for the post Servo!
Not sure how I feel about no Force Org chart... On one hand the background and fluff side of me says," well alright now you can create a force similar to that in a story".... but on the other hand, the side of me who listens to pod casts and has played against power gamers thinks its maybe the end of the game.
I mean lets face it, not all units are points costed fairly. I was able to overlook units like Lootas, Vindicators, and the like as the force org chart limited the number or units of these which could be fielded.
With this rule a person could have an entire army of teleporting librarians throwing out that large template ability for example. Furthermore, why play Death Wing if you want to play a whole terminator army, sure you miss out on that first strike special rule, but as a plus you can now afford a landraider or two in small games again...
Troops will only be to hold objectives(except with eldar as that battle trance makes bs:4 guardians great) and the rest of the army will be spam of the least properly costed units. It feels way less strategic.
Yes I understand there are bonuses involved for sticking to the chart... but a balanced army is going to have a hard time against a beardy spam list, like all venerable dreads in drop pods or all bloodthirsters(wouldnt that be a kick in the nutz). I guess if the bonuses are really helpful, like free victory points or universal feel no pain, then yah maybe it will be balanced. Although what it looked like on the video was one of the bonuses was re-roll the warlord trait.... not really super special.
Seems interesting... but I for one will stay skeptical.
On a side note, GW doing promotional videos? I guess since they litigated out most of the free adverts from gaming websites selling their products for them they have to spend money on it now.

In beasts of wars "weekender" there is a compelling argument made for the unbound lists being used to create certain scenarios from books or even if chatting with friends and playing "what ifs"...
So if it's agreed upon in advance and your opponent knows in general what to expect... say all monstrous nids led by swarmlord vs Marneus Calgar and all vets. That could be fun.
So while in limited engagements, it could be nice.
The video really hit the most probable cause though... any kid can just buy his favorite models and just play them...
It's interesting alright...
