Gentlemen...it is with a heavy and sad heart that I announce to you all that I, Silly OddanOddlam, a.k.a. The Beige Ork, have finally decided to throw in the towel and call it quits. My Ork army will be up for sale as well as various Space Marines and Tau pieces I have collected over the years. I shall no longer succumb to the Iron Grip of the Notorious Cockney Bastards known as Games Workshop, and I have chosen to liberate myself from so heavy a yolk that has been comprised of tyranny, deception and Finecast. I offer to you, if such interest exists, my dear friends...first dibs on the only children I have ever spawned. If no one is interested in purchasing my legacy, I'll be forced to sell the little bastards to an abusive home via Ebay.

Twenty-one hours after posting the previous message, and now I'm already starting to re-think it...I have soooooo much I want to paint... Good. Do not jump into a decision like that. I have been listening to a lit if WH40K podcasts lately, and I have noticed a trend. The people who power game and either barely paint or pay someone else to paint are MISERABLE. They complain, and nitpick, and never have fun. The people who collect and/or paint and rarely play or only play for fun are happy. The thing in common, though, is both groups seem to think GW is making lots of business mistakes lately. My point: hobbying brings happiness. Even if you hate GW, even if you don't want to play, don't quit painting. You love it and you are good at it. At least finish that Deff Dread, it is looking awesome!

Well, I'm not quitting so much because of GW. I mean, they DO suck and make stupid decisions that afffect their gamer base in unpleasnt ways...But anyways, my issue is more about the time involved. It isn't a hobby that I can just say "Hey, I've got 30 minutes, let me do a little hobbying here." It's extremely time-consuming both from the painting perspective (going through my paints and purchasing replacements for everything that went dry from just one week before is a full-time hobby in itself!) and from the gaming perspective as well. I love hanging out with my friends, don't get me wrong. But a single game can go anywhere from 5 to 8 hours...I can't do that anymore. I was blown away by Warmachine...in two and half hours I got 3 games in. Now that is something I can feel better about. I'm sure I'll still paint some of my models...but otherwise I'm done. Just the thought of setting up 130 figures to start a game is wearing me out!

And thanks for the compliment, BTW! I definitely plan on finishing the Deff Dread. It'll be my little trophy piece.
