I was just watching a video on beasts of war... what it was is not that important... what struck me that was mentioned in the game was the concept of the chess clock... Its not a crazy idea.
I mean there is regularly complaints about games taking too long. Also it happens regularly that there is a lot of jibber jabber going on slowing the game down. I for one am the most guilty, however, I feel like I make up for it a bit by knowing the rules fairly well.
So to fix these issues and keep myself more focused... it seems to make sense to add in the chess timer. Say to players only have 3 hours... each one gets 1.5hours... Go!!! I mean it shortens decisions, it makes moving quicker, it keeps people focused!!
I think its something we should look into to solve issues we are having as a group. Not to mention a cheap on is only 25.00. Plus it will force people to learn the rules... unless there is a pause on those things for rules lookup... course a third party judge might make issues go away...
Maybe each player get a certain amount of rule time worked in to the time or thats it... The big question set unresolved is whether a player is done when his time runs out or does a certain amount of points after the agreed time maybe take a point deduction for taking too long...
