>this is a rather brilliant conversion i found a couple years ago, and fully intend to build (three times!). i WISH GW would finally design a new warbuggy/wartrakk model, but since the current one dates back to the Gorkamorka-era, i got impatient and went searching for an alternative. sometime soon, i'll price out the components, but i'm guessing each will probably run between ten and fifteen bucks. not too shabby, and the end product looks pretty badass! here's the link: wartrakk conversion

Hey Tiamat... The picture is not loading... and I am interested in seeing this creation.

Works fine for me.
Looks like an easy conversion, but I still want a new plastic kit.

>they did such a great job on both the wartrukk and battlewagon models, i don't see why they STILL have yet to come up with equally badass kits for the warbuggy and/or wartrakk?

>@ Servo - there's 2 versions of this build on the page i linked, and it makes me curious - is GW REALLY that anal-retentive about what models a collector uses in his conversions? i don't see how they have any right to decide on the components a person uses, and how would they even prove the parts used came from another source? all the builder would have to say is he scratch-built the parts, right? hell, Da Kataklyzm Arm is 90% trash, and you've all seen Da Chariot of Dakka...if they really ARE that picky, it seems awfully shitty, even if it IS only a tournament play rule.<

>spent a few minutes on eBay:
IG tank track guards: $3.12 *Robogear Varan tank kit: $7.09 Space Marine bike handlebars: $1.15 Wartrukk ram plate: $1.65 Space Marine Rhino doors: $2.45 Ork Boy parts: $3
total parts: $18.46 + s&h
*to be fair, you could actually build most of the wartrakk out of this kit alone. Robogear has some decent looking models, i might add. all fairly cheap, too! comes out of the Russian Federation, however. some of the kits even have cyrillic text on the front of the boxes.<

>parts list is also using ALL the components listed on the link. it CAN be built cheaper, ie: omit the SM door, the IG track guard, the SM handlebars - those are all easily built from plasticard and bits. you could probably build one of these for about fifteen bucks.<

>and it makes me curious - is GW REALLY that anal-retentive about what models a collector uses in his conversions?< I know this question was directed at Servo, but I thought I would jump in and give my two cents. GW was anal-retentive about what models could be used in the conversion process; at least they were when they were still running the tournament gamut. If I recall correctly, official rules allowed for a small amount of non-GW material to be used in a conversion piece, but only a small amount. GW no longer runs tournaments, so I don't think it's going to matter so much anymore; it's not like they'll show up at your house and demand you stop supplementing Warmchine bits for your 40K army. Uh...right?

That is right (about the tournaments).
I had heard GW also does not let you use non-GW models and parts in games at their stores. As we rarely/never play at GW stores, I don't care what they say.

either on phone or computer, still cant load pic...
I believe it was 75% gw... But who plays games there anyway...
With their new "every unit in the codex must have a model" strategy(about time) it shouldnt be an issue anyway...
