>basic concept is too simple for my tastes, aesthetically. however, it's set off a spark of inspiration in my head. same basic idea, but use one of the weirder looking polystyrene fruits they sell at Hobby Lobby, possibly a Papaya or a Prickly Pear. i DID like the bit on the ripper tentacles, tho. and knowing me, i'd throw a couple magnetized (and thus interchangeable) miniatures into the mix as well. thanks for posting this, tho, i've been toying with the idea for a while and just needed a boot up my ass to get me going! oh, as for putting weapons on a mycetic spore? THAT just strikes me as kinda stupid. but it's in the codex...<

I thought the finished product was too simple-looking, but I thought there was value in the procedure.
If I ever do Tyranids (and GW continues to ignore the Spore for production), I would try a process like this.

Its a bit more complicated than the ones I made before... but that cd base idea is way essier than custom cutting craters out of pink foam!

>the cd as a regular base is a novel idea, but i think the nature of a mycetic spore (or even a SM drop pod) demands a cratered base. they DO pretty much crash down from the atmosphere, after all. so regardless, i'd have to build some cratered rubble, even if i based it on a cd.<

>a follow-up. i found this one, i think it looks WAY better, but i'm still probably going to use the polystyrene fruit idea. knowing me, i'll take elements from both tutorials and come up with something sufficiently gross and gribbly...< shell-based mycetic spore
