>so, looking at my venerated (and old) ork codex, i find that i can give every one of my nobz (i have a mob of ten, including a Painboy) an ammo grot for only 3 points. opinions: does anyone think this is worth the cost? this isn't a modelling/painting thread, but i couldn't think of any other place to put it. might need a "tactics" section. wow, i'm just coming up with sections left and right lately...<

I have never thought this was a good idea. Have you played them?(that question is meant to be serious and not sarcastic in any way) You may find they add a missing piece to the puzzle if your having issues with the shooting...
I find their ballistic skill extraordinarily lacking... You can tool them up with big shootas and the like... but then your losing extra cc attacks and in my 20 games playing them, this is where they shine.
So my vote is model them is you want to for the shelf, throw one in for flavor... but I dont feel like the twin linked shot at bs2 is worth the points. For the cost of decking a unit out with them you could almost get a whole extra unit of grotz which cn hold an objective while the nobz go kill stuff.
Although To be specific... I only played them in trukks or as the nucleus of a green tide. Perhaps your using them differently.
The only exception to the rule is the Warboss... and only if I have extra points... and especially if he is on a bike... Making him look good in combat all of a sudden is a priority... but Ive never used it even if I paid the points for it. Id sooner have him powerklawing the face off something.
My 2 cents on the topic.

Depends how your Nobz are armed:
1) Pistol and Melee Weapon = No, waste of points. 2) Shoota = Maybe, depending on their role. As JD said, try 1 or 2 and see how the feel in game. 3) Combi-weapon = Yes, you took a 1-shot ranged weapon for a reason, give it the best chance of working.

>lessee, i have 2 melee-only nobz with 'Uge Chppaz, a Painboy, a Flash Git with a Snazzgun, 2 combi weapons (1 shoota/rokkit and 1 shoota/burna), and 4 slugga/choppaz (1 with a WAAAGH banna). so i can probably make do with just 2. or should the Flash Nob have one as well?<

I love the idea of these guys cruising around with combi's reaking havoc, but it has simply been a waste of points. I almost always combi-"one of each" on my mega nobz(for wound ablation) but seriously bs2 means they have missed nearly ever time... except the big shoota who has hit twice in many games, and obviously the flamer... but in the 15 games I have used them the rocket combi has never hit:(
It was so bad it actually became sort of a running joke... Course the punch line to the joke is that they are all assault weopons and now you are getting charged by 3 mega nobz and a warboss all with power klws!
So if your rocketing up... an extra roll might not make that combi weopon a complete waste of points!
