So I'm sitting at my desk this morning and my co-worker hands me this card: Hmmmm...Draxtar Games. What's that? Is it a new gaming company ready to flood the world with a new miniatures combat game? Could it be an internet cafe, hoping to supply a safe haven for coffee-swilling geeks everywhere? Did someone play one too many games of Cards Against Humanity and finally decide to set up their own German Dungeon Porn business? I have no idea. I wonder what's on the other side of the card... HOLY CRAP! A new game store in BATAVIA? How awesome is that? I think we'll need to check it out!

A giant gaming complex for nerds across the street from Fermi Lab, where the nerd employment rate is 98%. I fail to see how this will be profitable!

Hmmm...that might be a huge benefit to us. If we were to...befriend...said nerds from Fermilab, we may possibly procur their assistance in creating some of the weaponry from the game. I, for one, would love to have a cyclic ion blaster attached to my vehicle to assist me in dealing with bad drivers. Or Ashton Kutcher.
Edit: I mean to say I'd like to utillize the cyclic ion blaster against Ashton Kutcher. I do NOT mean to say I want him mounted on my vehicle. Ewww.

Interesting...do you guys remeber Homer from The Battle Bunker? He's been running the Geneva Commons GW store for a while now. I heard he's the one opening this store. I'm very interested in checking this place out.

I love the new place and its possibilities, but if we cannot simply complete one game... one lowly game(between close friends)... to finish our tournament, we will never be able to control/own/or even hold influence on a great environment such as this...
I mean we cannot even make it happen in our own homes...
Maybe if we can agree to a schedule the next round we could be a force to be reckoned with... but otherwise our disorganized demeanor does not IMHO do us justice.

A factor to consider is we only had two gaming tables between Tim and myself; but that number has now been whittled down to one. My table has been taken apart and will be repurposed (the wood has been warping). It's time to make a new table! But that aside, if we were to choose to game at a place like this, they should have tables aplenty (I would hope). Of course, I do prefer hanging out in the comfort of our homes to avoid any close encounters of the nerd kind, but I am interested in checking out other games at this store.

I am all for giving it a chance.
Pros: Gamer environment; shopping options; things to see/do when not playing or waiting for your turn; fewer distractions during game.
Cons: No beer (I assume); probable annoying people around us; might have to pay.

Is anyone doing anything on the 19th of this month? I have a wedding to go to on the 18th however, since I assume there will not be drinking at said game parlor, maybe a game or two might be able to be played....
How many tables do they have?
Is there a charge to play? Do we Have to bring our own terrain?

No clue on the number of tables, I doubt they charge to play, and I'm certain they provide terrain (though how much they'll have at opening time is anyone's guess). We'll just have to be patient till June!

Finally had a chance to stop by Draxtar.
Good space, lots of terrain, no charge for playing.
We can make and run any kind of tournament with full support from the store. They were a little hesitant about supporting an exclusive league (like BWP), as they want a lot of participation. But, we can easily show up and play multiple games for our Campaign and just tell other customers they are pickup games.
No product discounts, but they do offer a rewards program: $10 off for every $100 spent.

>the name of the store kinda irks me in it's silliness, but next time i'm north, i'll check the place out. cool of them to host BWP, and thanks to Servo for recon and Sil for bringing the place to our attention. also, we have TWO usable tables, but as mine is about 20 feet long and made of steel with an MDF battleboard, it's not exactly portable. plus, it's bolted into a concrete floor. the Asylum is quite literally a small Battle Bunker. buuuuut, it's also a 500 mile drive for you guys. i guess that would be a "con." anyways, keep me posted, ladz. i'm off to browse the rest of my various messages.<

Excellent job on the recon, Servo! Perhaps we can nail down a specific date to meet and game at the shop? This would certainly help seep up the campaign.
